Inspection Engineering

Emenu utilizes the Fagan Inspection Process (© 2003 Michael Fagan Associates) for the basis of our Inspection Engineering capability. The Fagan Inspection is a seven step process used to reduce the number of defects that occur in engineering development. It also enhances productivity during integration since fewer defects will be present. By utilizing this process, we are able to (a) identify and remove defects from requirements, code, test plans, etc, (b) ensure requirements have been satisfied, and (c) ensure modifications are implemented properly.

Each inspection is conducted using an inspection team consisting of a moderator, author, reader, and tester. The moderator is responsible for leading the team through the seven steps of the Fagan Inspection and is an active inspector. The author is the creator of the work being inspected and is also an active inspector. The reader is usually an engineer or person who is dependant upon the work being inspected to perform their work or functions. The tester considers how to test the product and poses questions during the inspection geared towards testability.

Emenu is available to assist in the training and implementation of Fagan Inspections at the request of outside organizations. See our Training page for more information regarding this inspection technique.
